Shelter Staff Openings

Full-time Shelter Manager, Evening Shift, Bashford Men’s Shelter

– Full-time, 3–11 p.m., some weekend hours may be required.
– Key responsibilities: Oversee the activities, safety, and well-being of emergency shelter guests, program participants, and day services guests in the Bashford Men’s Shelter, as well as visitors, volunteers, and resource providers; provide guidance, assistance, and direct supervision for same. Assist with other shelter operations (i.e., kitchen, volunteers, programs with community partners)
– Must be able to: apply demonstrate biblically appropriate responses and assistance in difficult or crisis situations; advise staff of and advocate for individual guests’ needs for physical, emotional, and/or spiritual support; demonstrate Christlike behaviors and attitudes and communicate the Gospel clearly as opportunities arise.
– Ideal candidates will have exceptional hospitality skills, balancing compliance with Christian compassion; be able to work independently and as part of a team; exercise good discernment; and demonstrate strong documentation and communication skills.
– 1 year of experience working with men experiencing homelessness, co-occurring disorders, and/or associated conditions, or in a comparable fast-paced customer service or managerial role.
– High school graduate or equivalent GED required, college or advanced degrees welcomed.

Part-time Shelter Manager, Evening Shift, Bashford Men’s Shelter

– Part-time (up to 32 hours), 3–11 p.m., some weekend hours may be required.

– Full-time, nights and weekends may vary, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
– Assures that our guests have a safe and supportive environment, following all shelter protocols
– Duties include oversight of daily schedule and activities, laundry, showers, guests’ assigned tasks, dorm inspections, and occasional Bible study leadership.
– Ideal candidates will have the ability to multitask, exercise good discernment and confidentiality, be able to work independently and as part of a team, serve meals, and have a heart to serve women experiencing homelessness and related trauma
– High school graduate or equivalent GED required
– 2 years experience working in a service-oriented field required. Experience in ministry or praying with others preferred.

Full-time Operations Staff, Women’s Shelter Building

– Full-time, generally early daytime hours, including some weekends. Part-time may be a possibility as well.
– Assures that the shelter building that houses our female guests and sometimes children remains clean, safely maintained, and well-supplied
– Responsibilities include professional-level cleaning, bed and bath laundry services, indoor and outdoor safety maintenance
– Required: 2 years of experience in commercial housekeeping/cleaning and/or a hospitality industry
– Good documentation, communication, and conflict resolution skills, as well as a heart to serve as part of a caring shelter team

Support Staff Openings

– Full-time, M–F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on site in the Overton Center
– Conducts prospect and program research, gathers facts, creates supporting narratives, and prepares reports, and tracks grant proposals to secure financial support for The Union Mission and its programs for persons experiencing homelessness. Helps steward and strengthen funder relationships.
– Duties include managing a portfolio of grants by private and corporate foundations and other donors to The Union Mission and its ministries and programs.
– Ideal candidate will be analytical, incredibly organized, detail-oriented, a strong writer and verbal communicator, and a quick learner. Ability to manage and meet multiple project deadlines, provide proper documentation, and maintain confidentiality a must.
– Proficiency in computer, CRM databases, prospect research, and budgeting skills required.
– Understanding of issues such as homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and trauma-informed care a definite plus.
– At least 1 to 3 years of relevant grant writing, project management, and/or development/advancement experience required.
– Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

CRM Database and Reporting Coordinator, Development Department

– Full-time, M–F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on site in the Overton Center
– Supports the Donor Relations and Donor Services teams by conducting regular custom relations management database hygiene and reports, with the goal of assuring accurate processing and reporting of financial gifts to the ministry, as well as providing excellent customer service to donor.
– Duties include monthly and quarterly reporting, updating donor contact information and donor prospect records, working as key team member in establishing best practices and procedures for maintaining and enhancing database, and supporting donor requests and donor thank you activities.
– Ideal candidate will be detail- and deadline-oriented, a clear but cordial communicator, able to maintain strict confidentiality, and able to work as a member of multiple project teams.
– Strong computer skills in data entry, word processing, and Excel a must. At least 1 year of work experience in fundraising/CRM database management, data analysis, and reporting/documentation required.
– Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Retail Team Lead (Day Shift), Union Mission Thrift Store

– Full-time, Tuesday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on site, some flexibility required
– Assists the Thrift Store Director by providing leadership and oversight to all store employees and volunteers while promoting a courteous, professional relationship between workers and customers.
– Duties include opening and closing the Thrift Store, ensuring a clean, safe shopping and work environment, participating in staff and volunteer training, implementing best practices for accounting, record-keeping, donations, and merchandise selection and presentation.
– Ideal candidate will have demonstrated customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
– Experience in retail and managerial operations required.
– High school education (or equivalent) at minimum.
